Fairway’s Partnership with AASTU and Evangadi: A Milestone in Verifiable Credentials
Collaboration has always been at the heart of Fairway’s mission, and our recent partnership with Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) and Evangadi marked a pivotal step in that journey. Together, we launched an innovative pilot program aimed at establishing verifiable credentials using the Proofspace app, setting the stage for a more transparent and trusted hiring ecosystem.
Bringing the Vision to Life
To ensure the success of this groundbreaking initiative, members of our Finland-based team traveled to Addis Ababa to meet with AASTU students and staff in person. This visit was not just a logistical necessity but a crucial moment for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
On the bustling AASTU campus, we worked closely with university representatives to implement the Proofspace app. The goal was to allow students and graduates to securely store and share their academic credentials in a verifiable digital format. This marked a significant leap forward in bridging the gap between education and employment by giving students ownership of their qualifications in a way that builds trust with potential employers.
Why AASTU?
Addis Ababa Science and Technology University stands out as a hub for innovation and talent in Ethiopia. Its students represent the next generation of skilled professionals, and their readiness to adopt new technologies made them ideal partners for this pilot program. By working with AASTU, we could test and refine our approach in a real-world setting, ensuring its scalability for other institutions across Africa.
The Role of Evangadi
Our collaboration with Evangadi, a tech-focused organization dedicated to empowering African talent, further enriched this project. Their expertise in connecting local talent with global opportunities complemented our efforts to establish a verifiable credentialing system. Together, we’re creating pathways for students to transition seamlessly from education to employment.
The Success of the Pilot
The pilot program was a resounding success. By the end of our visit, hundreds of students had set up their verifiable credentials through the Proofspace app, providing them with a digital, trustworthy record of their academic achievements. This success demonstrated the potential of blockchain-based credentialing systems to transform the way students and employers interact.
A Look Ahead
The partnership with AASTU and Evangadi is just the beginning. The insights gained from this pilot program will inform our efforts to expand verifiable credentialing systems to other universities and institutions across Africa. As we continue to refine and scale this initiative, we aim to create a continent-wide network of verified talent ready to meet the demands of the global job market.
